Become a Volunteer
Volunteering can be a rewarding experience, where you have the opportunity to learn new skills, make new friends and offer something to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

Although London Friend is co-ordinated and administered by a small part-time team, services are delivered entirely by volunteers, including those working on the telephone helpline, within the counselling service and the London Friend groups. Fundraising, help with administration, publicity, recruitment and training of volunteers are also areas in which volunteers work in partnership with the office.

We are always looking for group, phone line, fundraising, publicity and administration volunteers.

Full training will be given for all areas except counselling, where we ask that volunteers are either fully qualified or working towards qualification on an accredited training. We also require counsellors to have completed a minimum of 30 clinical face-to-face hours and to be in individual therapy.

Volunteer Counsellor Recruitment
Although we currently have our full quota of volunteer counsellors, we are still keen to encourage applications from qualified counsellors and counselling students in their second year of accredited training who may be looking for a counselling placement. Successful interviewees who meet our criteria will be placed on a waiting list until a placement opportunity becomes available.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, before filling in our application form, please read our information pack.
