Brixton has always had a rich and diverse Black and queer contemporary social history from the early 19th Century to the present day. This event through informal discussions will shed light on the unique place Brixton holds within the Black LGBT experience in the UK.
Classically British is a unique project and powerful annual showcase of modern and classical ballet which celebrates the talent of Britain’s ballet dancers of minority ethnic origin. It also allows artists to express global cultures though the language of dance.
Imaan, Europe's largest Muslim LGBT support organisation, is celebrating its tenth anniversary in October 2008 with a conference that will bring together leading figures from around the world to discuss issues of faith and sexuality and to support the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender Muslims. Big Up, The Black gay men’s project at GMFA, is currently in the process of gathering data on the sexual health needs of Black gay men. They have created an online survey that takes approximately ten minutes to complete. 
The gay Irishman Oscar Wilde said, ‘There is only one thing worse than being talked about – not being talked about’. He was only partly right.
